Dr. Holden Thorp Spoke with Students about Being Editor-in-Chief of Science

On February 8, Dr. Holden Thorp came to Foxcroft to explain his career and answer our eager scientific questions. Dr. Thorp is on the faculty at George Washington University and the editor-in-chief of the Science family of journals. Dr. Thorp explained that he gives final approval for all articles published in the Science journal. Before articles are presented to him, they go through several peer reviewers. Around 12,000 articles are sent to Science, but only 700 reach Dr. Thorp and are published in the journal. -
You’re Invited: Author and Inclusive Design Educator Grace Jun to Speak at Foxcroft
Grace Jun, an assistant professor at the University of Georgia, where her research and teaching focus on design and disability processes, has been named Foxcroft’s 2024 Alison Harrison Goodyear ’29 Fellow. Answering the Call: Veterans Day Speaker Inspires the Community
Last Friday at Morning Meeting, the community welcomed a special Veterans Day speaker — Marilena Reddell, CEO and founding partner of ARMR Solutions, a company specializing in Advanced Social Media Analysis and Cyber Security. Mom to sophomore Kaylen, Marilena served as a Counterintelligence Officer in the U.S. Army and has spent over 20 years supporting the U.S. Military and U.S. Government since her first deployment to Iraq. On October 20, alumna Alex Carr ’12 shared her “Design yOUR Future at Foxcroft” story with the campus community during Morning Meeting. A passionate advocate for sustainability and environmental preservation, Carr makes eco-friendly solutions for the riding arena footing industry. Established by Austi Brown ’73 in honor of her mother, Helen Cudahy Niblack, Class of 1942, the Niblack Arts Lecture Series brings a variety of literary, performing and fine artists, artisans, and designers to Foxcroft to share their work and experience while engaging students in the creative process.
